Tune In for PMHI's April 2026 Webinar

Wednesday, April 15th, 2026 • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM • Irish Time

Health anxiety is more common than you might think during the perinatal period, often manifesting as excessive worry about yours or your baby's health and wellbeing. This 90-minute training will explore the prevalence of health anxiety in this population and examine key risk factors, including previous trauma, pregnancy complications, and pre-existing anxiety disorders.

You will learn evidence-based screening approaches and how to identify common presentations. Through case examples and interactive discussion, you'll develop skills to differentiate health anxiety from appropriate medical vigilance during this vulnerable time.

This training equips perinatal providers with essential knowledge and practical skills to recognize and support clients experiencing health anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum. You'll gain practical tools including validation techniques, psychoeducation strategies, and appropriate referral pathways, along with familiarity with effective top down and bottom up treatment modalities. This includes cognitive-behavioral approaches and exposure-based interventions and somatic approaches tailored to the perinatal context.

By the end of this session, perinatal providers across disciplines will feel more confident recognizing health anxiety and equipped to offer compassionate, evidence-informed support during the transition to parenthood.
